TROPICAL THROE.DOWN DATE CHANGE
Posted: Feb 1, 2010Late last week, Paradise Groove began informing those fans who had already booked Throe.down packages of a change in the dates.
Today, the organization is making the official announcement to the entire moe. fan community that after much deliberation, the decision has been made to re-schedule the event for January 5-9, 2011.
Ticket sales have slowed down since the earthquake in Haiti, but more importantly, the band did not feel comfortable with the idea of entertaining and partying on the other side of the island so soon after the tragedy.
No other details for the event have changed, and more information can be found on the Paradise Groove page.
We apologize to the fans who pre-booked for any inconvenience the re-scheduling may have caused, and we hope that they are able to take advantage of and enjoy the extra amenities provided by Paradise Groove due to the change.
We look forward to being with all of you next year for this amazing musical experience.

ABOUT SNOE.DOWN
Some say Snoe.down started at Sugarloaf in Carrabassett, Maine in 2002 with a pair of performances by moe. on a particularly frigid weekend. The “official” Snoe.down festival began in March, 2006 in picturesque and historic Lake Placid, New York. moe. performed for two nights in the Olympic Center’s famed USA Rink (home of the “Miracle on Ice”) as well as an outdoor afternoon set before more than 3,000 ecstatic fans at nearby Whiteface Mountain. The band repeated the event the following year, adding Disco Biscuits, Brazilian Girls, Little Feat, Tea Leaf Green and the Slip among many others. Construction plans at the Olympic Center scheduled to begin in 2008 put Snoe.down on indefinite hold, as the festival was forced to go on hiatus while an alternative home could be found.
ABOUT KILLINGTON RESORT

*FAQ UPDATE* - MOE. IN A MOE.MENT
Posted: Feb 21, 2009moe. will offer the Chicago soundboards for sale immediately after each show is over. Each show will be delivered as an MP3 file on 1GB USB flash drives. Each flash drive sports the moe. logo and comes with a lanyard. Just $15!
We have received several questions regarding the upcoming sale of the USB drives. Here are some of the most frequently asked ones. We will keep adding to the list as we get them:
Q. Can I go online and purchase the USB flash drive with the logo?
A. Not at this time but maybe in the future. In the meantime, you can visit livedownloads.com to grab our latest show.
Q: Where do I buy it? Do I have to go before the show or can I walk up at anytime?
A: You can buy it at the merch booth. You can pay for it before the show and you will receive a receipt that will let you pick it up after the show. This will be the fastest method. You can also buy it at the end of the show but you will need to wait a few extra minutes for delivery.
Q: Does it work on mac or PC? What if it does not work when I get it home - who do I call?
A: It works on both mac and PC, as long as you can open an MP3 file. You can e-mail usb@moe.org if you have any problems.
Q: Are you going to do this all the time? Can I bring the USB back to shows and get a discount for the same one to get loaded with a new show?
A: We are planning on doing this at every show, as long as the venue allows us to. At this time you cannot bring back the USB. You will need to get a new one for each show.
Q: Are the mp3 files on usb 1GB stick broken up in tracks or is it one continuous stream?
A: The files will be broken down in sets, not tracks. Maybe in the future we will be able to do tracks. As this is a new system, we will have a bit of learning curve.
Q: Why are there no .flac files available on livedownload's site for any of the shows from this year? And is this a permanent thing?
A: There are no .flac files this year because we have not had our normal recording gear with us. This should be fixed after Chicago.

MOE. TO RELEASE STICKS AND STONES JANUARY 22, 2008 ON FATBOY RECORDS
Posted: Nov 29, 2007STICKS AND STONES, the stellar new album from moe., features eight new songs that have never been performed live and two previously unreleased songs. Produced by the band and John Siket (Dave Matthews Band, Dispatch, Yo La Tango), who worked with the band on several of their critically acclaimed records, including DITHER (2001), STICKS AND STONES follows moe.'s release THE CONCH by just a year and will be released on moe.'s record label Fatboy Records on Tuesday, January 22, 2008. The album will also be available in limited edition vinyl; a first for moe. in this format.
STICKS AND STONES is a departure from the unique recording process moe. used on WORMWOOD (2003) and THE CONCH (2007) in which live rhythm tracks were combined with studio overdubs. Excluding "Conviction Song" and "All Roads Lead To Home", STICKS AND STONES was written entirely during the recording sessions. moe. formed in 1990 and this is the first time they have recorded an album of unheard, new material.
"The material differs quite a bit from THE CONCH and WORMWOOD which were largely cultivated from songs nurtured through live improvisation," says guitarist Al Schnier. "The songs that comprise STICKS AND STONES are much more straight, like many classic songs in the moe. canon, and have a roots rock quality to them, as opposed to the more progressive rock element of THE CONCH."
The usual moe. songwriting process starts by one band member bringing in the core of a song, the band learns and arranges it. The song is then performed live for at least a year. It morphs through many tweaks and edits and then one day it finally gets recorded. Not so on STICKS AND STONES.
moe. rented an old church in the mountains of New England and brought their own recording gear. The idea was to create a unique, comfortable situation that was conducive to creativity.
"We wrote & recorded the bulk of the album in about three weeks," says Schnier. "The songwriting was largely collaborative, whereas in the past it had been much more singular."
"When you work on something for a few years it ends up getting compromised from its original intent," adds bassist Rob Derhak. "Think of Van Gogh painting sunflowers for two years and everyone adding their opinions until the next thing you know he's painted dolphins, that's not to say that the dolphins aren't great, but they aren't sunflowers."
"The excitement for us is that we pulled it out of thin air while still working on the arrangements," says guitarist Chuck Garvey. "This album is very raw and not over thought. It's made up of our first instincts - which is not what you get when you play songs for a year or two and then record them."
Taking the songs to album first, rather than taking them right on the road, allows us to hear moe. for the first time before the material develops into Olympian jam classics. The band's influences are apparent, and yet moe.'s sound has matured over the past seventeen years into their own uniquely distilled fine mash.
With ten songs clocking in at just under forty-one minutes, STICKS AND STONES is moe.'s most concise recording to date. Various overdubs and final mixing were done at the world-renowned Allaire Studios in the Catskills. Mastering was handled by the legendary and Grammy Award winning Bob Ludwig (Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Beck, Pearl Jam).
Guest musicians include Cornmeal's Allie Kral playing violin and viola on "Cathedral", "Conviction Song", "September" and "Raise A Glass". Emilio China also played violin on "Cathedral". Friends Umphrey's McGee added backing vocals to "Raise A Glass", and Swampadelica's Nadine LaFond lends additional vocals on several songs.
"The exciting thing for us now, is that we have to relearn the songs from STICKS AND STONES to play them live!" says Garvey. "Maybe they'll sound nothing like the record by the end of the tour."
"Most bands make a record and then they have to figure out how to play it live," says Derhak. "We've never done that. It's a huge departure for us."
Following their New Year's Eve performance at Radio City Music Hall (for the second year in a row), the band will tour this Winter in support of STICKS AND STONES, beginning January 17 in San Francisco. -
