slow ride...
duh nuh nuh-nuh nuh-nuh-nuh
take it easy...
hey there.
just ran for the 1st time yesterday in 2 wks. (a very loong break w. the marathon only 18 days away). the good news is I did my 5 miles w/o any noticeable pain, anguish, etc. it was just a little on the slow side. chances are, I will not break any records or even set a personal record w. this run, but I'm confident I can finish w.o any further damage to my wrist.
I've had some massage & a lot of rest & it feels great. next week, more massage & chiro. Honestly, if it were not for the foreboding advice of friends, family & doctors I'd likely play this weekend & wind up back in a cast. may hand is feeling great, but still needs some more work & rest before I dare play. we will have more sit ins this weekend & the bruise on my left leg from rocking the tambourine has subsided enough so that I may further explore my inner marsha brady.
as an aside, I just came across a really interesting piece by garrett graham. he is the lyricist of "victim or the crime", one of weir's latter contributions to the dead catalog (& a very underrated composition imho). garrett also acted in several movies including "used cars" & "the man w. one red shoe" (he also looks like willie waldman's brother). even if you are not a fan of the song, or the band for that matter, it still makes a great read. here's a link:

left handed monkey wrench...
hey.
still typing lefty. thx to all for your support. i've seen 2 doctors incl. a hand surgeon, a great chiropractor, & 2 div. 1 sports doctors. the gist is that this has been 12 yrs in the making, largely due to an old snowboarding injury to rt. shoulder, bad posture, + very tense shredding. the good news is that once i grind out the knots & adhesions in my forearm, I should be able to get back in the game. will address shoulder down the road asap. the prognosis is that the marathon, thanksgiving, & nye, as well as 2007, should all be ok. will keep you all posted. thx again for all the love & support.

hands down
hey everybody,
as you have probably heard, my hand is in pretty bad shape. I tried to play in NH, but it only made my hand worse. I can`t squeeze, lift, pinch, push, pull or do anything without severe pain. in fact i can't type. my kids are typing this.
ok they are done. my turn now. i will not be playing any guitar for the next 2 wks. my hopes are thsat i'll be ok by nj.
on another note, i also cannot run, as it also kills my hand. i am dstill planning on doing the marathon, but may not be able to complete my training. i did a 20 mi run earlier last wk. so i'll probable be fine. if worse comes to worse, i will find another marathon to run in a few mos. thx for all of your care & support.
