Welcome to our shame spiral...........
I tried my best to diffuse the situation, but it got out of hand pretty fast!! There was broken bottles, food flung, spit and bile....... I was just eating my customary "post show bowl of cereal" when all hell broke loose. Al launched into a tirade about his keyboards not being up enough in the mix and Rob started to turn purple and shake. Next thing you know, the whole crew is trying to keep the two of them from their vicious dogfight.
First, Al got in my face talking about some crazy theory - that Rob had paid Steve Young to keep the keyboards "buried" in the mix.... Then Rob countered with some crack about Al's mental stability as he calmly stated his case for the complete removal of rehearsal from our lives... and something else about pizza for 10 straight days....
The whole thing really escalated! There was nothing I could say that would chill the situation. Al made a snide comment about "performance-enhancing drugs" and Rob completely ballistic.
I just happened to be holding a camera ( while eating cereal, I know - stupid! ) and I got so scared that I just squeezed off a bunch of shots as the sh*t went down............
They were both pretty amped up..... I have never seen them do anything like this before. It was over in a matter of a minute or two, with both skulking off into the night somewhere. We have been waiting for hours for them to return.
The last thing Rob said was something to the effect of "Next time he steals my "effing" shoe, I am going to straight up murder his ass".
Send help..............

this is not his band!
keyboards are just as much a viable part of rock music as his freaking slap happy bass! I am an artist. my space onstage is directly derived from creative flow! this is not fair!

okayalright...
i know things seem a little unsettling. i don't think the situation is as bleak as it may appear. I am a bit concerned about rob. i do not think he has slept in days. he has been a tad flippant lately, but this is not unusual when we are working on material other than his. he has been really obsessed w. where we get to stand on stage. he keeps making a point of running over & standing uncomfortably close to both chuck & i throughout the shows. i think it's an alpha male territorial thing. he keeps to himself most of the time. rob is very shy & introverted, but lately he has been a bit intense. i will try & talk to him tonight , as we have the night off. perhaps if I corner him & confront him everything will be peachy keen.
otherwise tour has been awesome!

I Feel I Need To Vent
I can't believe we wasted another three hours "rehearsing". Basically listening to Al tune his MOOG, and whine about us not backing up his soloing more.
I don't know, he's got some issue about his real estate on the stage, like I'm not allowed to step off of my rug during the show. I can't hold my tongue much longer, everything is spiraling out of control.
Just Blogging off,
Rob

a chip off the old blog
hey folks,
things are going great. we've been working extra hard on some of our newer material. we've been spending about 3 hrs. per day before ea. show running thru our material to tighten things up. rob has been a lot more focused & energetic than usual (have you noticed him bouncing around the stage?) it gets a little tense at times, but generally the vibe has been awesome! can't wait to see you tonight!
here are some more tourpics for you:

Better Late Than Never
Hey ya'll,
I just wanted to share some photos, Dan Shoop used my camera to take the pictures at the Tsunami Benefit.
James Paddock sent me the photo of Emma and myself from The Palladium.
I've also included an album cover idea, I painted it myself. It's just a rough draft but it's probably my best work. I spent about three hours on the shading of her upper lip.
Cheers,
Rob

back w. another one of those blog rocking beats...
hey kids,
back in black. house of blues in cleveland was wicked awesome. a bit of an improvement from the peabody's days. the crowd was on fire. thank you all so much for your continued support & enthusiasm. looking forward to our midwestern swing. many of these shows are nearly sold out. may be worth dishing out the xtra $5- $10 to halliburton for the service charge. sorry.
sit tight. there are more dates to come. including the real lowdown on the atlanta run. we will be touring thru the west immed. following our 2 nite stand @ the fillmore in denver - & then off to japan. summer plans are still being discussed. there will be a tour. we may also do some recording.
meanwhile, summer camp is on - memorial day weekend in chillicothe. moe. & umphrey's together again, along w. many other great bands from the scene. we are hoping to expand the festival to 3 days this year (& are doing our best to ward off natural disasters).
as always - moe.down will be labor day weekend & is currently planned for our same location in turin, ny.
here are a few pics from the tour...
on the set of Carson (there were many more seats in the balcony. really.)
trey looks on in disbelief as jim discusses his sexual reassignment (& rob has clearly heard this more than once)

Let the games begin!
Hey everybody,
Welcome to the new blog section of our website. We are very excited about this new feature & hope to update regularly - but then, I also plan to exercise daily & practice my scales... funny how life gets in the way of living.
This new section will allow us to give you some updates from the road along w.a few pics. Looking forward to seeing you all on tour. The last 2 nights have been off the hook. The benefit was an incredible, once in a lifetime experience. Last night, it just felt great to get out there & play a regular moe. show. We have been so busy doing homework, preparing for our Carson Daly appearance, as well as the benefit. It was nice to just do our thing last night.
Looking forward to seeing you all soon.
